Obituary for John B. Kandrach

JOHN BRIAN KANDRACH, 55, of 76 South Street, Cheshire, died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Hudson, New York, August 13, 1951, a son of Jacob J. and Elizabeth J. Balardini Kandrach, he was a graduate of Ichabod Crane High School in Valatie, New York. He moved to Cheshire in 1985.
A VietNam veteran, he served as a Specialist 4 with the United States Army from September 21, 1970 to September 20, 1973. Mr. Kandrach was last employed as a driver for The Berkshire Eagle where he worked for three years until leaving that position in 2004 due to ill health. Prior to that, he had worked two years as a driver for Pittsfield News. Previously, he had been employed by Bedard Brothers Honda as service manager for many years.
He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. He was a member of the Elks Lodge of Adams and a former member of the Cheshire Rod and Gun Club. He was a New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, and enjoyed fishing and was an avid reader.
Mr. Kandrach leaves his wife, the former Kathleen M. Francis, whom he married March 17, 1979, at St. James Church in Chatham, New York.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Joel D. Kandrach of Cheshire; a brother, James A. Kandrach of Cheshire, and a sister, Jacqueline Healy of Berlin, Massachusetts.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for JOHN BRIAN KANDRACH, who died Sunday, July 1, will be Thursday, July 5, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, celebrated by Rev. David R. Raymond, Pastor. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. Due to the Independence Day holiday, calling hours will be today (Tuesday), from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the DERY CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, where the Elks Lodge will
conduct its service at 7:30 p.m., In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Kandrach may be made to Adams Ambulance or to the Cheshire Fire Department, both in care of the Funeral Home, P.O. Box 445, Cheshire.
Mr. Kandrach leaves his brothers-in-law, Michael Healy and Robert Francis, and sister-in-law, Wanda Francis; his uncle and aunt, George and Alice Andrews of Dalton; two nephews, Christian and Nicholas Healy, and niece, Jamie Lynn Francis. Another brother, Joel D. Kandrach, died November 11, 1973.
