Obituary for John Paul Eastland

John Paul Eastland of Pittsfield, MA, passed away peacefully at home on April 12, 2021.

He was born and raised in Hinsdale; son to Catherine and Archie Eastland.

John attended Kittridge Elementary School and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Pittsfield in 1966. After graduation he served in the Army National Guard for six years, receiving an honorable discharge in 1972. He coached boys’ baseball in North Adams and girls’ softball in Pittsfield. John was a lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and also a Lifetime member of Telephone Pioneers. He retired from Verizon in 1995 after 29 years of service. He then operated his own telephone-related business until 2006. He enjoyed bowling and volunteer work.

John leaves behind his best friend and wife, Susan. Together, they shared a beautiful journey of almost 25 years and “I thank you”.

John is survived by his brother, Richard (Marilyn) of Hinsdale, MA, a twin brother, James (Mary) of Alvin, TX, brother, David of TX and sister, Mary (Ron) of Great Barrington. He leaves his sister-in-law, Joanne Parker and her son, Shane of Pittsfield; John’s favorite aunt and uncle, Ethel and James Eastland. John also leaves three children from a previous marriage, many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members.
He was predeceased by his mother, Catherine and father, Archie; a brother, Ronald Eastland, sisters-in-law, Penny and Yvonne Eastland, brother-in-law, Richard Parker, and niece, Christina Barker.

BURIAL NOTICE: Burial will be private in Pittsfield Cemetery. Dery Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
