Obituary for John R. Danylieko, Sr.

John R. Danylieko Sr., a life-long resident of Pittsfield, passed unexpectedly on Friday December 18th surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Pittsfield on June 13th, 1956 to parents Wilfred and Mary Markham Danylieko. He attended Pittsfield schools and was a 1974 graduate of Taconic High School.

John will be tremendously missed by his wife, children and grandchildren in addition to the countless friends and family who knew and loved him. He leaves behind his wife and life partner of 40 years, Joy Lenski Danylieko; his seven children John Jr. and his wife Marisa, Janet and her partner Jeffrey Marshall, Joseph and his wife Candice, Julie and her partner Derek Raymond, Jacob, James, and Jeana; and grandchildren Max, Mallory, and Emma.

John spent many hours of his life at his children’s and grandchildren’s swim meets, soccer, baseball and softball games, cheerleading competitions and dance recitals. In his spare time, John enjoyed camping on Cape Cod with his family, fishing, and taking on countless new automotive and household projects with his sons. John enjoyed NASCAR and drag racing, wrestling, and rooted for the Patriots & Red Sox. He worked at Crane & Company for 15 years and previously worked at Raynor’s Auto Parts for 32 years.

In lieu of flowers donations made will be used to establish a scholarship in John’s name to benefit an auto mechanics student planning to further attend trade school. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Dery Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
