Obituary for John C. Connors Jr.

Mr. John C. Connors, Jr., 95, a longtime Berkshire restaurant icon died Thursday at Hillcrest Commons of Pittsfield where he had resided since May of 2007. Born on September 29, 1912 in Toronto, Canada he was the son of the late John C. Connors, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Manion Connors. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and served in the United States Army during World War II. He married his wife, the former Ida M. Hotaling in 1951. Mr. Connors was well known in the Berkshire restaurant industry having owned and operated Ida & John's Restaurant in Hancock and Lenox for thirty-eight years with his wife Ida. He retired in the late 1970's. Mr. Connors was a former communicant of St. Mark Church. An avid skier, he was also a master chef and baker who took great joy in running his restaurant. He leaves his wife Ida, a son, John C. Connors III and two daughters; Robin Connors-LaRosa and Shelley Connors all of the Berkshire's. He also leaves three grandchildren; James V. Connors, Robin M. Connors and Keith M. LaRosa and a great grandson; James A. Connors. He was predeceased by two sisters.
