Obituary for John Allan Conner

John Allan Conner, 71, of 1484 Wade Inn Road, Becket, died Thursday, November 29, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Pittsfield on October 30, 1941, the son of John and Delrose Gareau
Conner, he was educated in Becket schools and was a 1959 graduate of Chester High
School.
A Viet Nam veteran, he enlisted with the United States Army on October 9, 1961,
served a two-year tour of duty in Japan, and was honorably discharged on October 8, 1967.
Mr. Conner was employed by the Westfield River Paper Company in Russell as
Plant Manager for thirty years.
He then worked as a Postman for the U.S. Postal Service in Westfield for two
years.
In 1995, he went to work for Mead Westvaco Paper Company in Lee until 2003.
Mr. Conner was a member of the Becket Federated Church where he had served
as Treasurer. Active in his Town, he served on the Finance Committee, the School Building
Committee, was the Town's representative to the Central Berkshire Regional School
District, and coached Little League.
He enjoyed bingo and the casinos.
Mr. Conner leaves his wife the former Theresa A. Meiers, whom he married
September 11, 1965, in the Becket Federated Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Melissa A. Saunders and her
husband, Paul, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Kelly J. Forfa of Lenox; and a grandson,
Nicholas Saunders.

FUNERAL NOTICE: There are no services. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Conner
may be made to the Eagle Santa Toy Fund in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME,
890 East Main Street, Dalton.
