Obituary for John T. Carmel

John T. Carmel, 91, formerly of Patricia Avenue, Dalton, died Friday, January 24, 2014, at Hampton Willowbrook Skilled Nursing Center in Houston, Texas. He had resided with his son in
Texas for the past three years.
Born in Dalton on November 29, 1922, a son of William and Catherine Glendon Carmel, he was educated in Dalton schools and was a 1940 graduate of Dalton High School.
Mr. Carmel was employed by General Electric Company where he was Manager of Computer
Operations. He retired in 1972with twenty nine years service.
Mr. Carmel was then employed by the Town of Dalton where he served as Tax Assessor for ten years.
While in Dalton, he was a communicant of St. Agnes Church.
He was a member of the General Electric Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs.
He enjoyed sports, was an avid New York Yankees fan, and coached Little League for many
years.
His wife, the former Mary P. Volin, whom he married October 9, 1943, died February 24, 2000.
Mr. Carmel is survived by a son, Thomas D. Carmel, with whom he made his home, in Spring, Texas; a daughter, Christine P. Sheasby and her husband, Robert, of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey; six grandchildren, Graham Sheasby, Geoffrey Seasby, David Carmel, Carolyn Hayes, Brian Carmel, and Elizabeth Carmel; and five great grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by two brothers, William Carmel and Donald Carmel, and a sister,
Marjorie Pultorak.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for John T. Carmel will be held Friday, January 31, at 9:155 a.m., from DERY-
FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Agnes Church celebrated by Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, Pastor. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home.
