Obituary for John P Broderick

orrington, CT John Patrick Broderick, age 56, of East Pearl Street, Torrington, CT, died Friday, December 15, 2017 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, CT. John was born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts on November 24, 1961, the youngest child of D. Elaine Morrier Broderick and the late William J. Broderick. He grew up surrounded by his loving parents and aunt, his doting great-aunts and grandparents, his six siblings, and many cousins and friends. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1980 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He continued his education at Hudson Valley Community College.
John served in the United States Air Force from 1982 to 1985. During his time in the Air Force, he honed his skills as mechanic and welder. John devoted his career to welding, an industrial welder who developed into an artist in metal craft. When he was not honing his craft, John loved spending time cruising on his motorcycle. He was an avid fisherman and a loyal friend, brother, son, and uncle. His family and friends will miss him dearly: his irreverent humor; his deep, raucous laugh; and his unflinching devotion.
John is survived by his mother: D. Elaine Broderick of Pittsfield; his six siblings: William Broderick of Metairie, LA, Thomas (Ann) Broderick of Perrysburg, OH, Raymond (Denise) Broderick of Jericho, VT, Mary (Kathryn) Broderick of Clarksville, NY, Ann (Thomas) Reed of Southwick, MA, and Sheila Dean of Southampton, MA; his seven nieces and nephews: Katherine Broderick, Dylan Broderick, Cailee Dean, Sadie Broderick, Ryan Dean, Harry Reed, and Brody Dean. He is preceded in death by his father, William J. Broderick of Pittsfield, MA; his aunt, Mary N. Broderick of Pittsfield, MA; and his brother-in-law, William J. Dean III, MD of Southampton, MA.
