Obituary for John L. Brasie Sr.

John Lester Brasie, Sr., 62, of 66 Westchester Avenue, Pittsfield, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014,
at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on August 30, 1951, son of the late Willis L. & Mary B. LaGrotteria Brasie, he was educated in Pittsfield schools.
He served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Brasie was last employed as a driver-delivery man for Payless Oil where he worked many years. Prior to that, he had worked for the City of Pittsfield for many years. He had also been a cook at
The Quality Inn in Lenox and a mechanic at Haddad Motors.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his
grandchildren.
Mr. Brasie leaves his wife, the former Christine A. Proper, whom he married November 3, 1984.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, John L. Brasie, Jr., of Pittsfield; a daughter, Felicia Sayers and her husband, James, Jr., of Hinsdale; four grandchildren, Brittany, Zayvire, Alissa, and Lillian;
a great grandson, Dante; a brother, Willis "Skip" Brasie and his wife, Joanne, of Loudonville, N.Y.; a
sister, Denise Baker and her husband, Ralph, of Pittsfield; a step brother, George Rider; and many nieces
and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for John Lester Brasie will be held Saturday, June 28, at 12:00 Noon at DERY
FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with Rev. Peter M. Naranjo, II., Parochial Vicar of Sacred Heart Church,
officiating. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the Friends of Renal Dialysis in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford
Street, Pittsfield.
