Obituary for John Richard Bigelow Sr.

John Richard Bigelow, Sr., 75, of Brooksville, FL, and formerly of Tyler Street Extension, Pittsfield, died suddenly on February 9, 2013. He was born in Pittsfield on October 12, 1937, the son of the late Leo and Louise Granshaw Bigelow. He was a 1956 graduate of Pittsfield High School and had served in the Army, Coast Guard, and Air Force Reserves.
Mr. Bigelow retired after thirty years in 2000 from General Dynamics in Pittsfield. He moved to Florida in 2006. He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with his children and grandchildren; enjoyed the New England sports teams, and especially the Jimmy Fund Fishing Derby.
Mr. Bigelow is survived by his three sons: John R. (Beth) Bigelow, Jr. of Peru, MA, Keith M. Bigelow of Pittsfield, Blaine A. (Susan) Bigelow of Norwich, CT; his daughter: Denise M. Bigelow of Dalton; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his brother: Daniel (Lena) Bigelow of Ludlow, MA, three sisters: Margaret Pettibone, Veronica Martin, and Louise Ludbrook all of Pittsfield; his first wife: Joan A. Greenleaf of Hinsdale; and many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by three brothers: Louis, Conrad, and Arthur; one sister: Celinda Mendel; his former wife: Elaine Kickery Bigelow and their son James Letourneau.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for John R. Bigelow, Sr. will be held WEDNESDAY, February 20, 2013 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Celebration of John's Life at 6:00 PM. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Jimmy Fund or the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield.
