Obituary for John J. Banister

JOHN J. BANISTER, 62, of 45 Circular Avenue, Pittsfield, died Wednesday
morning at Berkshire Medical Center of cancer.
Born in Boston, February 5, 1946, the son of Robert and Rita Holmes, he was educated in Boston and Pittsfield schools and was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Banister was employed as a construction worker for various construction
companies for many years until becoming disabled in the 1990s. He enjoyed bingo and antique car shows. Mr. Banister leaves his companion of twelve years, Cathy Forger, with whom
he made his home.
He also leaves five sons, Lloyd A. Banister of Pittsfield, Robert A. Banister of
Pittsfield, Mark A. Banister of Brockton, James Bigelow of the state of Florida and
Christopher Pennington of Pittsfield; two daughters, Doddi Bigelow of Adams and
Jennifer Banister of New York state; two brothers, Frank Banister of Oklahoma and
Robert Holmes of Pittsfield; five sisters, Carol Demastrie of West Springfield, Nancy
Miller of Nevada, Frances May of Brockton, Barbara Glue of Boston and Shirley
Grassa of Boston, and many grandchildren and a few great grandchildren. He was pre-
deceased by a son, Johnathan J. Banister and a sister, Patricia Banister.
