Born in Pittsfield, MA on September 7, 1933, the daughter of the late Dora Brazeau and Walter Conant, Sr., she graduated from Pittsfield High school with the class of 1951.

Shortly after graduation, she began working at Berkshire Life Insurance Company and General Electric Company. She later worked at Cavallero Plastics, the Hematology Oncology office, Hellawell Cadillac Oldsmobile, Drapery World, a craft store located in New Jersey where she would recreate items for that business, she was a custom seamstress often redesigning patterns to fit the needs of her clients. She and her husband were the proud owners of Sabato's Liquors and Brooklyn Deli from which they retired. It was at the "deli" where she enjoyed meeting and feeding so many folks. Joannie loved taking care of her family and friends.

Joannie was a past president of Stearns School PTA, Member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 155 in Dalton MA, and a foster mother to two beautiful boys. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, bowling, gardening, canning, baking, cooking and the Red Sox, when they were winning. Joannie was a lifelong resident of West Pittsfield. For at least 90% of her 90 years she lived less than one mile from the house where she was born.

Joannie is proudly survived by three sons, Michael of Pittsfield, John of Los Angeles and Peter of Pittsfield. Her only daughter, and best friend, Janet Kent of Pittsfield.
