Obituary for Joann Mawhinney Walton

Joann Regina Mawhinney Walton was born to John J. Mawhinney and W. Regina Foley in Pittsfield, Mass., on her father's birthday.
She graduated from Wahconah High School in 1969 and attended Bay Path College.
A dedicated medical assistant in the cardiology field for over 30 years, she loved her patients
and grew close to many of her colleagues.
She became an owner of Shamrock Restaurant in Dalton, building friendships and creating more
memories.
Her lifelong passion was animals. She loved all her horses, dogs, and cats. An avid horseback
rider throughout her life, she rode and bred many horses. She was the first female president of the
Hampshire County Riding Club.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her significant other, Jerry
Roberts of Windsor; her daughter, Shannon Walton of Hinsdale; her son, Todd Walton and his wife,
Melinda, of Hinsdale, her son, Cory Walton and his significant other, Erin Frissell, of Hinsdale; five
grandchildren, Quinn, Zander, Beau, Grady, and Lilah; two nieces, Karyn and Jennie Jacobs, as
well as many cousins.
She was pre-deceased by her sister, Mariann.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Joann Regina Mawhinney Walton will be Friday, December 2, with a
Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., at St. Agnes Church celebrated by Rev. Christopher A.
Malatesta, Pastor. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berkshire Humane Society or to the
charity of one's choice in care of the Funeral Home, 890 East Main Street, Dalton.
