Obituary for JoAnn Best

Pittsfield – JoAnn Mary Best, 63, of 81 Greylock Terrace, Pittsfield, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2015 surrounded by her family and friends. Born in Pittsfield on October 3, 1952, the daughter of the late Michael and Betty Gough Reynolds she was educated in local schools and was a graduate of Taconic High School. JoAnn worked as a switchboard operator for Verizon for 30 years prior to retiring in 1994. After retiring she worked for Berkshire Medical Center's switchboard from 2004 to until 2015. JoAnn enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She went out of her way to welcome children into her home and to assist them in whatever way she could. She also enjoyed camping and cookouts. She is survived by her daughter, Naomi and her husband Fred Cortez Jr. and their children Champagne, Tiajuana, Diego and Romeo all of Pittsfield, her son, Charles M. Best Jr. and his daughter Jozie L. Best and her daughter-in-law Megan Polidoro all of Pittsfield, her twin sister, Judith E. Reynolds and her son, Jason M. Reynolds of Pittsfield, her niece Alicia Burke of Pittsfield, the love of her life James D. Jacobs, her longtime friend Diane Burke, and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers, Dennis "Mickey" Reynolds and Danny Reynolds. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services for JoAnn Mary Best, 63, who passed away Wednesday April 27, 2016, will be held Wednesday May 4th at 12 noon at the DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service beginning at 11a.m.
