Obituary for Joan P. Villanova
JOAN P. VILLANOVA, 79, of Pittsfield, died Tuesday, June 2, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield, July 19, 1929, a daughter of James and Julie Sullivan Delaney, she was a 1946 graduate of St. Joseph Central High School.
Mrs. Villanova was a homemaker.
In her younger years, she worked for New England Telephone Company as a telephone operator.
Mrs. Villanova was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She worked at the City of Pittsfield election polls for many years.
She enjoyed playing bridge.
Her husband, Retired Pittsfield Fire Department Captain Robert P. Villanova,
whom she married September 10, 1949, died May 14, 1996. Mrs. Villanova is survived by four sons, Paul V. Villanova and his wife, Cynthia, of Navarre, Florida; Michael A. Villanova and his wife, Maura, of North Chelmsford, Massachusetts, Thomas J. Villanova and his companion, Christine Moscarillo of New Hartford, Connecticut, and Robert M. Villanova and his wife, Mary, of Farmington, Connecticut; a sister, Julie A. Nichols of Pittsfield; eleven grandchildren, Zachary, Kaitlin, Claire, Alexis, Anna, Caroline, Julia, Kaeyla, Nicholas, Sophia, and Paul Vincent, and a great granddaughter, Leila.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for JOAN PATRICIA VILLANOVA, who died Tuesday, June
2, will be Friday, June 5, at 9:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy
of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m, at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by Rev. James K.
Joyce, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be
Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions
in memory of Mrs. Villanova may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of
the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
