Obituary for Jerome J. "Jerry" Gallagher

Mr. Jerome J. "Jerry" Gallagher, 78, of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4th, 2015.
Born in Pittsfield on September 19, 1936, he was the son of the late Joseph H. and Mary Griffen Gallagher.
He graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958. Upon his return, he attended and graduated from UMASS Amherst with a Bachelors in Communications.
His career included teaching automotive shop at Taconic High School. He also spent several years working as an insurance adjuster with Kelly Insurance. In 1976, he was able to follow his lifelong passion as an antique dealer and did this until he retired.
Jerry was an avid fan of all Boston sports teams but especially loved the New England Patriots. His hobbies included writing music, playing and entertaining friends with the guitar, and solving crossword puzzles. He had a great sense of humor and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Benoit Gallagher. His two daughters, Shannon Beauregard and her spouse Dan of Acton, MA and Jill Gallagher of Pittsfield, MA. His brother Christopher Gallagher and his wife Jane of Dublin, NH and his sister Joan Mastrianni and her spouse Dr. Anthony of Guilderland, NY. He is also survived by several nieces and one nephew. He was predeceased by a brother John R. "Jack" Gallagher.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
At the request of the family, in keeping with Mr. Gallagher's wishes, there are no
calling hours. A celebration of life for family and friends will take place in his honor at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire Humane
Society or to Soldier On both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
