Obituary for Jennie L. James

Jennie L. James, 82, of 21 Indian Street, Pittsfield, died Saturday at Hillcrest Commons. Born on November 22, 1931 in Sheffield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Harold Johnson Sr. and the late Evelyn Vickers Johnson. A longtime Pittsfield resident, she was educated in Sheffield schools and was a1949 graduate of the former Sheffield High School. She married her husband, the late Herbert H. James on April 12, 1952. He died on April 10, 2013. Mrs. James was employed as a teacher for over thirty years at ECDC and Berkshire Center for Families and Children as well as the Follow Through Program with the Pittsfield Public Schools. She retired in 1997. She enjoyed sketching, drawing, reading and gardening. She also enjoyed taking day trips with her late husband Herbert. One of her great joys was spending time with her granddaughter Devon. She leaves three daughters; Kelly S. James-Davis and her husband Walter of Pittsfield, Wendy L. James of Windsor, CT and Melissa L. James of Leominster, MA.
Two sisters; Catherine Allen and Hattie Johnson both of Sheffield, MA. She also leaves her loving granddaughter; Devon Davis of Pittsfield. She was predeceased by four brothers; Harold, William, Elmer and James and by four sisters; Louise, Mable, Minnie and Evelyn. The James family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses and staff at BMC for the wonderful care given to Jennie during her stay there.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Jennie L. James, 82, of Pittsfield who died November 15, 2014 will be private. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations in memory of Jennie may be made to either the Step Down Program at Berkshire Medical Center or to the BMC Pediatric Care Unit both in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 which is handling arrangements.
