Obituary for Jeffrey A. Daury Sr.

JEFFREY ALBERT DAURY, SR., 67, of 868 Holmes Road, Pittsfield, died
peacefully on Thursday, December 17, at Berkshire Medical Center, surrounded by
his loving family. Born in Pittsfield, September 15, 1942, the son of Albert and Leona Archey
Daury, he was a graduate of Cranwell School and Boston College and earned his
masters of education degree from North Adams State College. Mr. Daury began his teaching career at the Lanesborough Elementary School. He
was then named Principal of the former Russell School and at the former Rice School,
both in Pittsfield, and was the first Principal to serve at Morningside Community School.
He concluded his career as a teacher and grade leader at Herberg and Reid Middle
Schools. Mr. Daury retired in 2004 with 37 years service.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Active in youth sports, Mr. Daury was a soccer referee for 37 years and also
coached the Boys Club House Hockey League and South Little League baseball.
He was an avid New York Yankees fan, and also enjoyed playing duplicate
bridge and pitch.
Mr. Daury leaves his wife, the former Mary Ellen Flynn, whom he married August 28, 1965.
Besides his wife, he is also survived by a daughter, Maureen Corcoran and
her husband, Joe, of Pittsfield; three sons, Jeffrey A. Daury, Jr., and his wife, Kathy, of
Pittsfield, Mike E. Daury and his wife, Lisa, of Hartland, Wisconsin, and Kevin M.
Daury, of Boston; a sister, Beverly Dyer and her husband, George, of Dalton; and nine
grandchildren, Brian and Lauren Daury, Mackenzie, Jake, Sydney, and Lexy Corcoran,
and Matthew, Jonathan, and Allison Daury.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for JEFFREY ALBERT DAURY, SR., who died Thursday,
December 17, will be Tuesday, December 22, at 11:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL
HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon at Sacred Heart Church
celebrated by Rev. James K. Joyce, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's
Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Daury may be made to Pittsfield
South Little League or to the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center, both in care of the Funeral
Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
