Obituary for Jean M. Chretien

JEAN MARY CHRETIEN, 84, formerly of 62 Dexter Street, Pittsfield, died Sunday, March 14, at Berkshire Medical Center. She had resided at Side By Side on Onota Street for fifteen years.
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, on June 16, 1925, she was the daughter of Eugene L. and Katherine Ward Boyer. Following the death of her parents, she was
raised by Jim and Mae Temple of Fort Edward, New York. Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Chretien had been employed by General Electric
Company in Glens Falls, New York, where she was a secretary and office worker for
ten years. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, reading and playing the piano, animals, and
eating out at the Old Country Buffet.
Her husband, Edward J. Chretien, whom she married March 22, 1952, at the
former St. Mary's Church in Pittsfield, died March 28, 2000.
Mrs. Chretien is survived by three sons, Edward J. Chretien and his wife, Gloria,
of Pittsfield, Brian T. Chretien and his wife, Lydia, of Oak Harbor, Washington, and
Stephen J. Chretien of Pittsfield; three daughters, Margaret A. Vaccaro and her husband,
Martin, of Pittsfield, Darlene E. Anderson of Pittsfield, and Janet Marie Chretien of
Pittsfield; as well as eight grandchildren, five step grandchildren, eleven great grand-
children, and one great great grandson.


FUNERAL NOTICE:Funeral services for JEAN M. CHRETIEN will be Friday, March 19, at 9:15 a.m.,
from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, celebrated by Rev. James K. Joyce, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the
Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Chretien may be made to the Brien Center or to HospiceCare in The Berkshires both in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
