Obituary for Jean M. Barber

Jean Marie Barber, 94, formerly of Capitol Square Apartments, died Thursday, March 27, 2014,
at Mount Greylock Extended Care.
Born in Pittsfield on April 30, 1919, the daughter of Andrew F. and Anna Cardin Barber, she was
educated in Pittsfield schools.
Miss Barber had been employed by A.H. Rice Silk Mill where she was a thread finisher. She
retired in 1982 with 42 years service. She had, at one time, worked at Crane & Company.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and she enjoyed walking and playing bingo.
Miss Barber is survived by two sisters, Lillian Larder of Thompson, Georgia, and Clair Ostrander
of Lanesborough; as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her sisters-in-law, Ann Piekos-Barber and Charlotte Barber.
She was pre-deceased by four brothers, Andrew, George, Walter, and Eugene, and four sisters,
Ann Rice, Gloria Barber, Joyce Secord, and Irene Barna.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Jean Marie Barber will be held Tuesday, April 1, at 9:30 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Church celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 8:30 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Church in care of the funeral home 54 Bradford st.
