Obituary for James M. Ostaski

James M. Ostaski, 65, lifelong resident of Pittsfield, passed away January 27, 2023 at his home. Born in Pittsfield on March 17, 1957 he was the son of the late Edward and Bertha Wrona Ostaski.

He was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1975 graduate of Taconic High School. He also attended Berkshire Community College.

Mr. Ostaski was the Vice President of Yellow Checker Cab Co from 1969 to 1984. He then was employed as a stationary fireman at Rice Silk Mill and finally at Monson Developmental Center, where he was a high pressure boiler operator.

Jim was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and loved travelling to the Grand Ole Opry and enjoyed country music and the steel pedal guitar.

He is survived by his niece, Valerie M. Ostaski Ball and husband Chris. Nephew, Michael T. Ostaski and companion, Karen. Great-nephew and great-niece, Connor and Natalie Ball.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services will be held, Friday, February 3, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery, celebrated by Rev. Christopher Fedoryshyn. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the American Heart Association in care of Dery Funeral Home,54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201
