Obituary for James J. McMahon Jr.

Mr. James J. McMahon Jr., 77, of 49 Broadview Terrace died January 4, 2013 peacefully at home.
Born in Pittsfield on July 29, 1935 to James Sr. and Marie. He graduated from Pittsfield High School and earned a BS in Computer Science thru ABC, BCC, ITT, Drexler, and North Adams State.
He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. After returning from service he worked in various fields and earned his degree. He ultimately worked as a Computer Systems Engineer and Software Designer for General Electric.
James was a member of the Corvette Club in 1966, Friend of Bills since 1974, and the Senior Center. He enjoyed motorcycles, snowmobiles, boating, tinkering with small engines, time with his family, trips to Florida, and his beloved dogs.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Robie McMahon whom he married in 1956; three daughters- Kathleen (Storme) and her husband Michael; Koleen (Kellee); Kimberley and her husband Florin of Lake Worth, FL; two sons- James (Jeep) and his wife Kim; John (Jadee); 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Notice: Calling hours will be held at Dery Funeral Home on Sunday, today, January 6, 2013 from 4-7 PM. A funeral Mass will be held Monday, January 7, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Charles Church with Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mr. McMahon can be made to The Supportive Daycare Program at the Senior Center, The Wounded Warrior Project, The Eleanor Sonsini Center, or Center for Dementia Research all in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield. The family would like to thank all those caregivers involved during James' illness.
