Obituary for James E. "Hen" Ellsworth

James "Hen" E. Ellsworth, 70, of 34 Howard Street, Pittsfield, died Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at
Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on January 1, 1944, son of James E. and Mary Londergan Ellsworth, he was educated in Pittsfield schools, was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, and attended Berkshire Community College.
He served with the United States Army during the Viet Nam War.
Mr. Ellsworth was employed by General Electric Company where he was an inspector. He retired in 1990 with 23 years service.
Mr. Ellsworth was a member and past officer of the SIOGA Club.
He was an excellent pool player and ranked No. 1 in billiards. He was a two-time New England
Regional Champion and qualified for the Nationals in Las Vegas. He was also an avid New York Yankees fan.
Mr. Ellsworth leaves his wife, the former Becky McColgan, whom he married January 15, 1967,
in Stephentown, New York.
He is also survived by four sons, Eugene P. Ellsworth of Pittsfield, James M. Ellsworth and his
wife, Sherrie, of Dalton, Shaun D. Ellsworth of Pittsfield, and William C. Ellsworth of Pittsfield; two brothers, Charles J. Ellsworth of Pittsfield, and Peter R. Ellsworth of Lanesborough; a sister, Susan M.
Passmore of Turners Falls; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Kelcey, Christian, Lucas, Hannah, William, and
Elandro.
Mr. Ellsworth was pre-deceased by a grandson, Alexander; two brothers, William J. Ellsworth
and Eugene P. Ellsworth; and two sisters, Ellen T. Ellsworth and Margaret Durant Ellsworth.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for James "Hen" E. Ellsworth will be held Friday, August 1, at 9:15 a.m. from
DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Charles Church
celebrated by Rev. Peter A. Gregory, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours
will be today, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions
may be made to The SIOGA Club in care of the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
