Obituary for James W. Armstrong

James W. Armstrong, 72, of 34 Columbia Street, Adams, died Tuesday, December 29, 2015, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on October 2, 1943, the son of Walter R. and Bernice I. Anderson
Armstrong, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1961 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Armstrong was employed by O.W. Landergren where he was a machinist for
many years. He retired in 2000.
He was a model railroad enthusiast and belonged to a local model railroad club. He was a Boston Red Sox fan and an even greater NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed off-road four-wheeling in his Jeep and taking scenic rides to Vermont.
Mr. Armstrong is survived by two daughters, Tammy L. Aitken and her husband, Daniel, of Pittsfield and April A. Woo and her husband, Samuel, of Pittsfield; his son, Shaun D. Armstrong of Pittsfield; a brother, David Armstrong and his wife, Edith, and Savoy; six grand-children, Alaina Percy, Alex Woo, Shane Aitken, Sarah Aitken, Sadie Aitken, and Seth Aitken; as well as his former wife, Susan Armstrong, of Pittsfield.
He was pre-deceased by a sister, Shirley Bolonia.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for James W. Armstrong will be held Monday, January 4, 2016, at
12:00 noon at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. Calling hours will precede the service
Beginning at 11:00 a.m.,
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Berkshire Scenic Railway
In care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
