Obituary for James J. Albano

JAMES JOSEPH ALBANO, 83, of 65 Hawthorne Avenue, Pittsfield, a life long resident of Pittsfield, died Friday, December 18, at Berkshire Medical Center.Born in Pittsfield, November 15, 1926, a son of Bruno M. and Nancy M.
Samarco Albano, he was a 1944 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He continued his
education at Albany Business College where he earned an associates degree, graduating
with honors, from the accounting program.
A World War II veteran, he served as a Private First Class in the United States Army from March 20, 1945 until December 5, 1946.
Mr. Albano was a public accountant with the public accounting
firm of Apple & Albano in Pittsfield. He retired in 1984 with thirty years in the
profession. From 1985 until 1990, he and his wife were proprietors of Anne's Card
and Gift Shop on North Street in Pittsfield.
He was a communicant of St. Mark Church.
Mr. Albano was a member of the American Legion in Pittsfield. He was
a past member of the ITAM Lodge 564 where he and his wife enjoyed dancing.
He was also a past member and treasurer of his golf league at the Skyline Country
Club. Besides being an avid golfer, he also enjoyed watching sports, playing
cards, doing crossword puzzles, and taking trips to the casinos with his daughter,
Diane. Mr. Albano's wife, the former Annie M. Mazzacco, whom he married October
18, 1952, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, died January 27, 2005.
He is survived by a son, David J. Albano, Sr., and his wife, Cheryl, of
Pittsfield; a daughter, Diane J. Albano, of Pittsfield; two grandsons, David James
Albano, Jr. and his wife, Bridget, of Pittsfield, and Daniel J. Albano of Pittsfield; a
great grandson, Ethan J. Albano, of Pittsfield; two sisters, Carmella J. Delmolino.
of Pittsfield, and Mary J. Deloye, of Ventura, California; a brother, Samuel J. Albano
and his wife, Delores, of Pittsfield; and many nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Joseph J. Albano, a step brother, Nicholas
M. Melle, and two sisters, Antoinette J. Rapkowicz and Santina J. Albano, all late
of Pittsfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for JAMES JOSPEH ALBANO, who died Friday, December
18, will be Wednesday, December 23, at 9:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME
with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mark Church celebrated by
Rev. John A. Roach. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours
will be Tuesday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers,
contributions in memory of Mr. Albano may be made to HospiceCare in The
Berkshires in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
