Obituary for Ivy T. Donald

IVY THOMPSON DONALD, 95, formerly of Pine Grove Manor, Dalton, died Thursday, April 19, at Consulate Health Care in Vero Beach, Florida, where she had been a patient since March 13.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, February 24, 1912, the daughter of James and
Louisa Thompson, Mrs. Donald lived in Pittsfield before settling in Dalton for most of her adult life. She moved to Sebastian, Florida, with her daughter in October 2003.
Mrs. Donald was a 1929 graduate of Pittsfield High School and in 1932 received her registered nursing degree from the former Bishop Memorial School of Nursing. Mrs. Donald was a homemaker.
She enjoyed bowling, golf, traveling, and was an avid reader. Her husband, George W. Donald, whom she married March 1, 1934, died May 10, 1984.
Mrs. Donald is survived by her daughter, Dorothy W. Bairstow of Sebastian, Florida; a sister, Maisie Flanders of Campbell, California; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE:Funeral services for IVY THOMPSON DONALD, who died Thursday, April 19,
will be held Monday, May 7, 2007 at 11;00 AM in the Chapel at First Congregational Church of Dalton conducted by the Rev. Robert Kyte, pastor.
The burial took place in Ashuelot Cemetery in Dalton. There are no calling hours. In lieu of
flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Donald may be made to the Dalton Free Public
Library, 460 Main Street, Dalton. The DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of
local arrangements. Mrs. Donald also leaves a nephew and several nieces.
