Obituary for Irma M. Munch

Irma M. Munch, 100, of 780 Peru Road, Hinsdale, died December 30, 2014 at her son's home in Peru. Born on August 5, 1914 in Tyngsboro, MA she was the daughter of the late John and Gertrude Legeune Allard. She was educated in Lynn, MA schools and was a longtime resident of Hinsdale. She married her husband, the late Edward F. Munch Sr. on July 10, 1940 in Chelsea, MA. He died on December 25, 2012. A homemaker, she had worked in the mid 1960's as the owner and operator of Mrs. Munch's Nursery School in Lenox. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church in Dalton and served as a volunteer for the American Red Cross. At the time of her death she was the holder of the Post Road Cane as the oldest resident of Hinsdale. She enjoyed gardening and was an accomplished seamstress and cook. She leaves her son: Edward F. Munch Jr. of Peru. Four grandchildren: Laura Munch Wakefield, Edward F. Munch III, Theresa J. Munch and William J. Munch. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sisters; Amelia Allard and Alice Duffy and by her two brothers; Albert and Louie Allard. The Munch family would like to extend their gratitude to her caregivers; Regina, Sharon, Kathy and Cindy and everyone at Hospice Care in the Berkshires for the compassionate care shown to Irma and her family.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Irma M. Munch of Hinsdale who died December 30, 2014 will be held Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Church in Hinsdale celebrated by the Rev. Christopher Malatesta, pastor. Burial will take place in the spring in St. Patrick's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
