Obituary for Iolanda "Pat" Sojkowski

Iolanda "Pat" Sojkowski passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday, March 2, 2016, as she was called home to join her husband Hank and her dearly missed family.
She was born Iolanda Anita Giusti on November 2, 1919, in Pittsfield, Mass., daughter
of Italian immigrants, Annunziata and Quintilio Giusti from San Gimignano, Italy. She graduated
from Pittsfield High School and ran her own store in the Lakewood area of town for three years.
She then worked for 13 years at General Electric, six of them in the Plastics Division and seven
in the Ordnance Division.
She met and married the love of her life, Henry J. Sojkowski, of Adams on January 18,
1958, and was soon blessed with a son and a daughter whom she loved very much. When her children were of school age, she went back to work, this time as a Teacher's Aide for the
Pittsfield School Department, where she loved spending time with the students. In her younger
years, she enjoyed golfing, sewing, and was a wonderful cook.
Pat was very proud of her Italian heritage and loved talking about shared Italian history
with her many Lakewood friends. A humble woman who appreciated every one of her
blessings, she always found the good in everyone. Her door was always open and family and
friends were frequent visitors. Ninety-six years young, she was a 'hot ticket' and always fun to be around. Her spark for life has not been extinguished, as she is now lighting up the heavens with her wit.
She leaves her two beloved children, Richard H. Sojkowski and his wife Cheryl of Simsbury, Conn., and Diane C. Agar and her husband David of Pittsfield; four cherished grand-
children who made her very proud; Kayla M. Agar of Boston, Colton M. Agar of Pittsfield, Nicole E. Sojkowski of Boston, and Julie A. Sojkowski of Simsbury. She also leaves several nieces and
nephews and many good friends.
She was pre-deceased by her husband and by her four sisters, Mary Zavattaro, Geneva
Levante, Romana Spazioso, and Victoria DiCicco, and one brother, A. John Guisti.
God speed, Mom. You will truly be missed by so many.
