Obituary for Inez Horth Johnson

Inez Horth Johnson,83, of 104 Pine Grove Dr. died Saturday August 30,2008 at Providence Care Center of Lenox. She was born in Albany , N.Y. January 31,1925 daughter of the late James and Mary Hart Horth. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and Mary Washington College and received a Masters in education from Our Lady of the Elms College. A Teacher in Pittsfield for Redfield, Tucker and Egermont Schools for 30 + years, she retired in 1991. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, belonged to the League of Women Voters, Friends of the Athenaeum , was president of P.T.O. Lenox School for Boys, Principal for Head Start Summer School program, a proud member of the Pittsfield Teachers Assc., Mass. Teachers Assc. and the National Education Assc. and was an animal lover. She was married to the late Edward F. Johnson Jr. whom she married Feb. 18, 1947. He died April 11, 2001. She is survived by a daughter Mary Sydney Johnson of Pittsfield and a son Edward "Ward" Johnson III and his wife Barbara of Pittsfield and one brother James Horth Jr. of Dalton and two grandsons Mark and Daniel Johnson.

Funeral Notice: Funeral Services for Inez H. Johnson,83, who died Saturday Aug. 30 will be held Wednesday Sept. 3, 2008 at 10:15 AM from DERY FUENRAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Church at 11:00 AM celebrated by the Rev. James
K. Joyce, pastor. Entombment at St. Joseph Cemetery will be held at a later date. Calling hours at the Dery Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Car in the Berkshires, Berkshire Humane Society or the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home 54 Bradford St.
