Obituary for Henry Joseph Trudell

Henry Joseph Trudell, 92, lifelong resident of Dalton, passed away August 5, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

Born in Dalton, MA on May 15, 1931 to Henry P. and Ida Garneau Trudell, he was a 1949 graduate of Dalton High School. He then graduated from International Business School for Traffic Management, and the United States Air Force Business School for Hospital Food Service.

He was a United States Airforce Veteran during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953.
Mr. Trudell married the former Elaine M. Patterson on April 24, 1954 at St. Agnes Church in Dalton. She predeceased him on January 31, 2022.

Henry was a past commander of the American Legion Post 155 for 2 years, and the past president and secretary of the Berkshire County Traffic Association. He also was a chairman and cemetery trustee for 18 years in Dalton. He was a former member of the Board of Governors of the Dalton CRA, was a Deputy Sherriff of Berkshire County and was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

A communicant of St. Agnes Church for 65 years, he was installed as past president of the Parish Council and was a member of the finance council. A member of the fundraising and secretary of fundraising. He was a eucharistic minister, choir member, and chairman of property and maintenance. He received the outstanding parishioner award of St. Agnes, the very first of the parish.

Mr. Trudell was employed at Byron Weston Co. - Crane and Co. for 45 years as a customer service manager and traffic manager.

For 36 years, Henry was a faithful employee of Dery-Foley Funeral Home in Dalton.

Mr. Trudell is survived by his children, daughter, Deborah Huff and husband James Huff of Melbourne, FL, and son, Richard H. Trudell of Dalton, with who he made his home. He was predeceased by his wife Elaine and his sister, Catherine Thibault.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Monday, August 14, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, celebrated by Rev. Christopher Malatesta, Pastor. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday, August 15, 2023 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 E. Main St, Dalton. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Agnes Church Food Pantry in care of the funeral home.
