Obituary for Henry C. "Hank" Deebach

Henry "Hank" C. Deebach, 85, of 19 Birchwood Terrace, Dalton, a resident of
Dalton since 1988, died Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Springside Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center in Pittsfield. Before moving to Dalton, he resided in Rego Park, New York, since 1969.
Born in Brooklyn, New York on October 25, 1927, the son of the late Charles H. and Rosina Stehlin Deebach, he was educated in Queens, New York, schools and was a 1944 graduate of high school there.
Mr. Deebach was employed as a truck driver for Allied Aviation in New York, the fuel supplier for airlines going in and out of John F. Kennedy International Airport.
He retired in August 1988 with more than 40 years service. He also served his country with the United States Navy.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters.
Mr. Deebach was a longtime member of the Dalton Lions Club. He was the
1999-2000 recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow from Lions International.
He had great pleasure boating on Long Island Sound, was an avid Red Sox fan, and enjoyed going to Atlantic City, Foxwoods, and Saratoga racing. He also enjoyed time with his great nieces and great nephews.
Mr. Deebach's wife, the former Grace C. O'Melia, whom he married March
22, 1969, in the Church of St. Luke in Bay Shore, Long Island, died February 4, 2013.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Sarah "Peggy" Brophy of Pittsfield, and his
brother-in-law, Lawrence O'Melia of Springfield; as well as six nieces, three nephews,
and several great nieces and great nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for Henry "Hank" C. Deebach will be held Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton with Pastor Sigmund Sadzinski officiating. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dalton Lions Charities, Inc., in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL
