Obituary for Helen Stracuzzi

Helen Mary Supka Stracuzzi, 92, of Davis Street, Pittsfield, died Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at her home.

Born in Pittsfield on February 25, 1929, daughter of Martin and Katherine Drzal Supka, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1947 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Mrs. Stracuzzi was employed by General Electric Company where she was an inspector. She retired in 1990 with 23 years service. Prior to that she had worked at Elmvale Worsted Company. She was a cashier at the Cup & Saucer located in the old Wendell Hotel and a waitress at the G.E.A.A. for ten years.

Mrs. Stracuzzi was a communicant of St. Joseph Church and had been a longtime communicant of Holy Family Church. She was a member and officer of the Sons of Italy ITAM Lodge 564 and a member of the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center.

Her husband, Pittsfield Police Officer Rosario C. Stracuzzi, whom she married August 21, 1949 in Holy Family Church, died May 24, 1976.

Mrs. Stracuzzi is survived by a son, Robert Stracuzzi of Pittsfield; three daughters, Joanne (husband Stephen) Daly of Lebanon Springs, N.Y., Christine Vickery of Pittsfield, and Kathleen (husband Robert) Gingras of Lanesborough; six grandchildren, Brian Mack, Kevin Mack, William Vickery, David Vickery, Michael Vickery, and Michelle Gingras; and five great grandchildren.

She was pre-deceased by a son, Richard J. Stracuzzi, who died June 6, 2011; grandson, Robert Mack; three brothers, Thomas, Mathew, and Edward Supka; and seven sisters, Anna DeAngelo, Mary Loboda, Victoria Furness, Virginia Szklasz, Amelia Was, Sophie Virgilio, and Viola Supka.


FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Helen Supka Stracuzzi will be held Tuesday, January 18, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 8 to 9 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter or to the Pittsfield Police Association in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
