Obituary for Helen Marie Schnackenberg
Helen Marie Schnackenberg of Lenox, passed away peacefully at her home on August 2, 2021 at her home. She was born in Santa Maria, CA on August 10, 1959 to Mary Lou and the late Walter Schnackenberg. Helen was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and the University of Massachusetts. She worked for state social services throughout her career.
Having lived in the North Shore area of Boston for most of her life, she enjoyed windsurfing, skiing and hiking. Helen retuned to the Berkshires in 2009 to be closer to her family. Helen was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Connecticut.
She is survived by her mother, Mary Lou of Pittsfield; brother, Chip and wife Jeanne, two sisters, Anne and husband Michael, and Katarina. She also leaves her nieces and nephews, Angela and Brian, P.J.and Jessica, Nicholas and Gabriel, Jody and Skyler, Jessie and wife Casey, Jayme, Etta and Sophia; and her grandnephew and grandnieces, Michael and Abigal and Olivia.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Helen Schnackenberg will be held, FRIDAY, August 6, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, officiated by Rev. Timothy Ehlers, Pastor of Messiah Lutheran Church. Calling hours will be held THURSDAY, August 5, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to a charity of one’s choice. The family graciously asks that those attending wear masks.
