Obituary for Helen Mae Ray
Helen Mae Ray, 92, of Pittsfield, MA passed away January 5, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Worcester, MA on May 31, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Eva Brousseau LaVigne.
She attended schools in Beirut, Lebanon was a graduate of St. Joseph High School.
Helen married the late Francis J. Ray on August 18, 1951. He predeceased her on August 27, 2004.
Primarily a homemaker, at one time she worked for the local woolen mills and Eaton’s Paper Company.
Mrs. Ray was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church.
She is survived by her children, Lawrence E. Ray and wife Marcia (Merrigan) of North Adams, Dennis J. Ray and wife Cindy of Pittsfield, Paul C. Ray and fiancé Deb Wendell of Pittsfield, Patricia R. Mellace of Stephentown, NY and Debra S. Ray of Pittsfield; her sister Florence Ray of Pittsfield. She is also survived by her grandsons, Christopher Ray, Matthew J. Mellace (Aimee Munday and daughter Abby) and Elliott Ray. Her granddaughters are Ashley Ray (Mansoor Pervaiz), Kelly Rhodes (Joshua), Lisa M. Mellace, Melanie (Jordan) Groah, Kate Merrigan (Nick Fahey), Erin Merrigan (Evan Webb) and Meghan Merrigan (Mark Charland). She also left a great granddaughter, Zara Pervaiz and two great grandsons, Oisin Merrigan-Fahey and Walker Charland.
Funeral Notice: Services will be private with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
