Obituary for Helen M. Johnson

HELEN MARY JOHNSON, 89, formerly of BerkshireTown Apartments, died
Wednesday, June 10, at Sweet Brook Care Center, in Williamstown, where she had resided since January 2007. Born in Brooklyn, New York, January 1, 1920, the daughter of Walter and Catherine Mann Hausle, she was educated in Ridgewood, Queens, New York, schools,
and came to Pittsfield in 1966.
Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker.
She was a past president and vice president of L.U.B.I. (Let Us Be Independent), an organization for the handicapped and past president of U.H.P.B.L. (United Handicapped Persons Bowling League), and was an active member of the Berkshire Benevolent Association for the Blind, Inc.
Her husband, William J. Johnson, died May 10, 1980. Mrs. Johnson is survived by a daughter, Carol Anne Corl and her husband, Frank, of North Adams; three grandsons, Richard Gross of Middleboro, Mass., Michael Gross of Windsor, and James Corl of Adams; three granddaughters, Nicole Gross, Harmony Corl,
and Leah Corl; a sister, Doris Fellmann and her husband, William, of Dalton; and a
nephew, Steven Fellmann of Cheshire.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for HELEN MARY JOHNSON, who died Wednesday, June
10, will be Friday, June 12, at 10:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, Pastor. Following cremation, burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Johnson may be made to Berkshire Benevolent Association for the Blind, Inc. in care of the Funeral Home, 54 Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
