Obituary for Helen Margaret Houghtlin

Helen Margaret Houghtlin, 89 of 664 Dalton Division Road, Pittsfield, Ma. died Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the home of her daughter Helen Perkins at 61 Louise Street, Pittsfield, she was surrounded by her loving family when she went home to be with the Lord. Born on May 12, 1923 in Pittsfield a daughter of the late Mitchell Harris and Mary Elston Harris Hugabone. She attended schools in Pittsfield. She was last employed by the former Adams Supermarkets as a cashier and office worker. She enjoyed playing Bingo, the Casino's and mostly her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was the wife of George A. Houghtlin, Sr. whom she married May 15, 1939; he died January 8, 2001. She is survived by three sons, George A. Houghtlin, Jr. and his wife Mildred of Pittsfield, Edward Houghtlin and his wife Reba of Lake Creek, Texas and John F. Houghtlin and his wife Donna of Dalton, Ma. Three daughters, Helen G. Perkins, Mary L. Kowalczyk and her husband William and Susan B. Filippi all of Pittsfield, Ma. A Step brother, Douglas Hugabone and his wife Diane of Pittsfield and a sister, Frances Houghtlin of Pittsfield. 25 Grandchildren, 54 Great Grandchildren and 19 Great Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by four grandchildren, Joshua Willis, Helen Taylor, William Stevens and William Kowalczyk, Jr. and by two sons in laws, Daniel Perkins and David Filippi.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012 at 11:30 A. M. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma. Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday morning from 10 to 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials in her memory may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires or to the Salvation Army, both in care of the funeral home.
