Obituary for Helen Mary Gonska Mrs.

Helen Mary Gonska, 97, formerly of Lenox Avenue, Pittsfield died Sunday October 14, 2012 at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield where she has resided for the past two years. Born on August 9, 1915 in Greenfield, Ma. A daughter of the late Teofil and Teofila Parda Sadlowski. She attended schools in Greenfield, Ma. Mrs. Gonska was last employed for the former Schaeffer- Eaton Paper Company in shipping and receiving for 23 years retiring in 1979. She was a longtime communicant of the former Holy Family Church and was a member of its Rosary Sodality, Mothers Guild and St. Cecelia's Choir. She is now a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. She enjoyed playing golf, traveling, decorating cakes, knitting and crocheting. She was the wife of Andrew S. Gonska whom she married May 27, 1933 at All Saint's Church in Housatonic, Ma. He died April 22, 2001. She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis F. Bombard and her husband Harold of Southwick, Ma. and Patricia A. Gaudette of Pittsfield, Ma. A son, Andrew S. Gonska and his wife Silvana of Dalton, Ma. Two brothers, Louis Sadlowski of Pittsfield, Ma. and John Sadlowski of Live Oak, Florida. A sister, Anne Zaccari and her husband Dante of Pittsfield, Ma. 16 Grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Parsons and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral Notice: Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma. Followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Msgr. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in Saint Bridget's Cemetery in Housatonic, Ma. Calling hours at Dery Funeral Home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials in her memory may be made to Saint Joseph's Church in care of the funeral home.
