Obituary for Helen Daly

Mrs. Helen Daly, 88, of 176 Columbus Ave., Berkshiretown Apartments, died Saturday at Hillcrest Commons Nursing Home where she had resided for the past three days. Born on February 22, 1918 in Pittsfield, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Helen Gramkowski Rupinski. A lifelong resident of Pittsfield, she was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1936 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She had also attended the former Berkshire Business College. She married her husband, the late Harold F. "Barney" Daly Sr. in June of 1939 in Pittsfield. He died on April 28, 1986. Mrs. Daly was employed as a librarian for General Electric Ordnance in Pittsfield for nineteen years. She retired in 1980. Prior to working at GE she had been employed at the former W.T. Grant Company for ten years. She was a communicant of St. Charles Church and a member of the GE Pensioners Club. She enjoyed traveling and going on cruises. She leaves a son, Harold F. Daly Jr. of Pittsfield and a daughter, Dawn H. LeBarron of Washington, MA. She also leaves two sisters, Blanche Milukas of Port Orange, FL and Evelyn Galant of Pittsfield. Three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Helen Daly, 88, of Pittsfield who died December 9, 2006 will be private. Burial will take place in the family lot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Mrs. Daly also leaves her beloved & caring son-in-law, James H. LeBarron of Washington, MA, three grandchildren, James H. LeBarron Jr. of Weymouth Heights, MA, Jonas LeBarron of Crystal, Michigan and Amy D. Pharmer of Peru, MA. She also leaves her five great grandchildren, Brett, Glenn and Tess LeBarron and Autumn and PJ Pharmer. She was predeceased by two brothers, the late Ted and Romeo Rupinski and by two sisters, the late Amelia D'Agostino and the late Jay Chiddo. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date at St. Charles Church in Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 which is in charge of arrangements.
