Obituary for Harry E. Stone

HARRY E. STONE, 85, of Side By Side Assisted Living died Monday, October
27, at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility.
Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, on December 18, 1922, he was a son Alvin and Mary Mara Stone. His mother died at a young age and he was raised by Jim and Anne Foley late of Pittsfield.
He worked at J.J. Newberry's before entering into the service.
A World War II veteran, he served in the United States Army with the 734th Field
Artillery Battalion from March 1943 to January 1946 in England, France, and Germany.
After the War, Mr. Stone worked for Associated Transport as a warehouse worker then as a truck driver for thirty years retiring in 1976. He worked for the Country Club of Pittsfield for nine years in the kitchen.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church.
Mr. Stone also donated his time at the Pittsfield Boys Club and Downtown
Pittsfield keeping it neat and clean.
He enjoyed cooking and spending time with his family. His beloved wife, Beatrice P. Maloney Beaudin Stone, died June 8, 1998. They were married April 15, 1950.
Mr. Stone leaves two sons, Patrick M. Stone and his wife, Jeannette, of Pittsfield;
Thomas H. Stone and his wife, Janet, of East Nassau, New York; a daughter, Colleen J.
Finelli and her husband, Michael, of Pittsfield; two grandchildren, Mackenzie C. Stone
and Lauren A. Stone; and a sister, Ester Kelleher of Needham, Massachusetts.
He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Alvin and Robert, and a sister, Katherine.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for HARRY EDMOND STONE, who died Monday, October
27, will be Friday, October 31, at 8:15 a.m., from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a
Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Church, celebrated by Rev. Msgr.
Michael A. Shershanovich, Pastor. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling
hours will be Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers,
contributions in memory of Mr. Stone may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires or
to Mount Greylock Extended Care Activities Fund in care of the Funeral Home, 54
Bradford Street, Pittsfield.
