Obituary for Harry George Methven

Harry George Methven of Pittsfield, Massachusetts passed away on February 4, 2021 at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox at the age of 88.

Harry was born in Queens, New York on March 24, 1932 to Harry A. Methven and Adele D. (Black) Methven. He was predeceased by both of his parents, his sister Judith (Methven) Wofford and his wife, Karen (Wefer) Methven (1934-2014) to whom he was married in 1958.

Harry is survived by his three daughters and their families; Nancy G Daley and her husband John Daley of Amite, Louisiana and their daughter Colleen (Daley) Meyers and son William Daley; Judy Moulton of Leominster, Massachusetts, her son David Moulton and daughter Wendy Moulton; Ellen Cassaro and her husband Dean Cassaro of Montague, New Jersey and their daughter Anna Cassaro; as well as many nieces and nephews and his dear friend Ashley Pixley.

Harry graduated from high school in Flushing, Queens in 1948. He received his bachelor's degree in Psychology from Queens College in 1952. He then served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict until 1956. The highlight of his time in the military was serving as an aide to General Benjamin O. Davis Jr.

Upon his discharge, Harry began his 32 year career with IBM where he held several positions and retired in management.

After retiring, Harry and Karen moved to Hinsdale and later Pittsfield where they volunteered for many organizations including their beloved Tanglewood. Harry also provided rides to cancer patients through the RSVP organization.

Harry will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
