Obituary for Harold D. Boland Jr.
Harold Dexter Boland, Jr., 79, of 193 Elberon Avenue, Rose Manor Apts. Pittsfield, MA died Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born on April 4, 1936 in Pittsfield a son of the late Harold D. Boland, Sr. and Helen Zegarowski Boland. He attended schools in Pittsfield and was a 1954 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He was a Korean War US Air Force veteran.
Mr. Boland was the owner and operator of Berkshire Aluminum Products from 1967 until his retirement in 2010.
Harold was a life member of the American Legion, a member of the Rowdy Bunch CB Club for many years. He enjoyed snowmobiling, gardening, bird watching and family picnics. Most of all he enjoyed his beloved grandchildren.
He leaves his wife the former Barbara V. Dubois whom he married January 28, 1956 at St. Charles Church. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Joan L. Lennon and husband Kevin of Lanesboro, MA and Deborah Lynn Zarn and husband Philip of Richmond, MA. Two sons, Harold D. Boland III and wife Mary of Pittsfield, MA and Stephen F. Boland and fiancée Sherry Garman Coppolino of New Smyrna, Florida. A brother, James J. Boland and wife Theresa of Pittsfield, MA. A sister, Joyce Andrews and husband Robert of Pittsfield, MA.
Eight grandchildren, Aaron, Ryan, Michael and Devon Lennon, Desiree Mazzeo, Ashley and Katie Wren and Matthew Coppolino. Six Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother Charles Boland and a sister, Kathleen MacDonald.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held Friday, August 7, 2015 at 11:30 A.M. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA with the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles Church officiating. Calling hours at Dery Funeral Home will be Thursday from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
