Obituary for Grace B. Brooks

Grace B. Brooks, 95, of Hinsdale died peacefully on March 4, 2017. Born on June 17, 1921 in Limington, ME she was the daughter of the late William and Alma Moulton Brunk. She was educated in Limington schools and was a graduate of Limington Academy. For many years she had resided in Hinsdale, Peru and Tampa, FL. She married her husband, the late Lyndon R. Brooks on March 5, 1942. He died on March 31, 1998. They were the foster parents to many foster children and also raised nine children of their own. A homemaker, she was a member of the First Congregational Church of Hinsdale. She enjoyed traveling, reading, camping and playing the piano. She leaves five daughters; Linda Smith who was predeceased by her husbands; David Levernoch and Randall Smith, Janet Bennett and her husband Richard, Janice Foley and her husband Henry, Deborah Sedgwick, and Jessica Swail and her husband David. Four sons; Barry Brooks and his wife Faith, Richard Brooks and his wife Jody, Mark Brooks and his wife Angie and Craig Brooks and his wife Heather. She also leaves thirty-eight grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers; Edward and Richard Brunk.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Grace B. Brooks, 95, of Hinsdale who passed away March 4, 2017 will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME in Dalton conducted by the Rev. Jennifer Kimball, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Hinsdale. Burial will take place later in the spring in South Cemetery in Peru. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 5 to 7 PM and Friday from 10:00 to 11:00AM at the funeral home. Memorial donations in memory of Grace may be made to the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department or to the First Congregational Church of Hinsdale both in care of the funeral home, 890 Main Street, Dalton, MA 01226.
