Obituary for Gordon E. Wise

Gordon E. Wise, 74, of 5 Monica Drive, Lanesboro, died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center after a long illness. Born on December 5, 1940 in Pittsfield, he was a son of the late Roger Wise and the late Bernice Sweener Wise Burnett. He had resided in Lanesboro for the past ten years and prior to that was a longtime resident of Dalton. He was educated in Pittsfield schools and went on to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Wise was employed as a material expediter at General Electric for twenty-five years. He also worked at the Berkshire Eagle in the mailroom from 1993 until his retirement in 2000. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Lanesboro American Legion and the Benjamin F. Sullivan Post #155 American Legion in Dalton. He enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, bottle collecting, painting art and wood crafting. He leaves his wife, the former Susan Delphia, whom he married on July 23, 1989 in Pittsfield. Two daughters; Martine Wise and Lorie Ann Wise Martin. A step-son; Jon P. Clark of Pittsfield and a step-daughter; Carla J. Richmond of Pittsfield.
He also leaves his sister; Donna Hallowell of Richmond and two grandchildren; Austin and Brian Wise. He was predeceased by a daughter; Corrine Wise who died in 2010 and by his brother; Roger Wise and his sister; the late Audrey P. Bouchard. He was also predeceased by his step-father; the late Stanley Burnett who raised him as a young child.

Funeral Notice; A graveside service for Gordon E. Wise of Lanesboro who died October 29, 2015 will be held Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Mountain View Cemetery in Lanesboro conducted by the Rev. Charles Young, chaplain at Hospice Care in the Berkshires. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Gordon may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201 which is handling arrangements.
