Obituary for Glenn "Poppy" Sweener

Glenn "Poppy" Sweener of Wimauma FL, 75, passed peacefully at home with his family by his side on July 7, 2016.
Glenn grew up in Pittsfield, MA, and made a home in Lanesboro, MA with Judy Sweener, the love of his life for the next 43 years. In 2015 they moved to Wimauma, FL. Glenn was a Machine Operator with Rising Paper for 24 years prior to retirement in 2005. He loved all things outdoors, and for the whole of his life could be found hunting and fishing in the woods, lakes and streams of the Berkshires. He was a gifted gardener and brought pleasure to many with the fruit and beauty of that passion. Glenn had a great love for his family and he shared that love with them every day. He especially cherished the time spent with his grandson, Nico. Glenn made many great memories in passing along his experience, thoughts and interests. Glenn will be deeply missed by the many lives that he touched. He had a warm smile and a ready laugh that will not be forgotten.
Glenn is preceded by his Mother and Father, Frances and Lewis Sweener. He is survived by his wife, Judith Sweener of Wimauma, FL, daughter Janet Bruce and husband Kevin Bruce of Parrish, FL, daughter Christine Amuso and fiancé Thomas Brisson of Worthington, MA, grandson Nico Amuso of Lanesboro, MA, brother Lewis Sweener of Adams, MA, nephew Stephen Sweener of Dalton, MA, nephew
Michael Sweener of Pittsfield, MA and cousin Marie Davis of Pittsfield, MA

FUNERAL NOTICE A memorial service for Glenn "Poppy" Sweener will be held
Sunday, July 24, at 12:30 p.m., at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, with Rev. Charles F. Young, officiating.
A celebration of Glenn's life to follow immediately after at the ITAM at 22 Waubeek Road in Pittsfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lanesborough Fire Department Association: LVFD, P.O. Box 1556, Lanesborough, MA 01237 or the Bill Laston Memorial Park via pledge forms found at www.lanesborough-ma.gov under the Community, then Sports and Recreation tabs.
