Obituary for Giovanna DiGirolamo Mrs.

Mrs. Giovanna "Nina" DiGirolamo, 79, of 310 Pecks Road, Pittsfield died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born on April 8, 1929 in Terracina province of Latina, Italy. A daughter of the late Ugo and Merina DiMaggio Perotti. She attended Italian Schools and came to the United States on February 4, 1966 settling in Pittsfield. A homemaker she was a former member of the Italian-American Club, she enjoyed Italian cooking and making homemade pasta and bread, and she especially enjoyed her family and shopping and dancing. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was the wife of Romolo DiGirolamo whom she married September 14, 1947 in Terracina, Italy he died October 30, 2007. She is survived by a son, Roberto and his wife Joanne Sanginetti DiGirolamo of Pittsfield. Two daughters, Anna Pozzoni and her husband, Mario of Mesa, Arizona and Silvana Penna of Pittsfield with whom she has resided with for the past year during her illness. A Brother Domenico Perotti and his wife Adriana of Goodyear, Arizona. 9 Grandchildren, Mark Penna, Kathie Penna-Ward and her husband David, Monica Penna and her husband Matt Tekin, Lisa Pozzoni, Sylvia Hackett and her husband Tim, Gianna DiGirolamo-Culbertson and her husband Clinton, Erica, Jessica and Robert DiGirolamo. 8 Grandchildren, Julia, Ethan, Mia, Sophia, Matthew, Nicholas, Isabella and Lilliana.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Giovanna "Nina" DiGirolamo who died January 26, 2009 will be held Thursday at 8:15 a.m. from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, Ma. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:00 A.M. at Saint Mark's Church, celebrated by the Rev. John Salatino, pastor. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at DERY FUNERAL HOME will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials in her memory may be made to the American Red Cross or to the American Cancer Society both in care of the funeral home.
