Obituary for Gerald "Jay" R. Yon
Gerald R. “Jay” Yon, 69, of Pittsfield, passed away December 18, 2021 at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on June 13, 1952, to the late Harold and Madeline Enright Yon. He attended Pittsfield schools and was a 1971 graduate of Taconic High School.
Jay married the former Judith A. Hubbard on February 23, 1980 in Notre Dame Church.
Prior to becoming disabled in 1979, he was employed by General Electric as a welder. He enjoyed volunteering at Morningside Community School, was a Bingo caller at Notre Dame Church and loved to golf and play cards. Most of all, he cherished the time spent with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Judith A. Yon. His son, Brian J. Yon of Nashville, TN. Two daughters, Kimberly A. Yon of Williamstown, MA and Stacy A. Yon of Pittsfield. Two sisters, Sharron Pires and husband Douglas of Pittsfield and Sandra Kearns and husband Timothy of Pittsfield. A brother, Terrence A. Yon and wife Debra of Pittsfield. As well as a grandson, Nathan Reynolds, and his large extended family.
FUNERAL NOTICE: A funeral home service will be held, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
