Obituary for George T. Trombley

George T. Trombley, 88, of 503 South Washington State Road in Washington died Friday, February 12th at home. Born on August 4, 1921 in Adams, MA he was a son of the late Thomas W. and Violet Maynard Trombley. He was educated in Lanesboro schools and had resided in Washington since 1962. Prior to that he had resided in Hinsdale for many years. He served in the United States Army during World War II having served in Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was the recipient of the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory and Good Conduct Medals. He married his wife, the former Patricia Collins on June 27, 1947 in Pittsfield. She died on November 16, 1995. Mr. Trombley was a self-employed logger in Washington for over fifty years. He retired in 1986. After his retirement he worked as a carpenters laborer for several years with John H. Goddard Builders of Hinsdale. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing and listening to country music. He also enjoyed his horse. He leaves a daughter, Diana L. Goddard and her spouse, Marie Beron of Pittsfield. A son, Thomas Trombley and his wife Charlotte of Washington and a brother, Ronald Trombley of Austerlitz, NY. Three sisters; Pearl Castori and her husband Robert of Ipswich, MA, Ruthanne Rheaume of the State of Kansas and Joan Southard and her husband Stephen of Washington. He also leaves his three granddaughters; Stephanie Wade and her husband Steven who were his caregivers and with whom he resided, Wendy Goddard Smith and her husband J. David of Fishers, Indiana and Tammy Goddard Pudlo and her husband Scott of Williston, VT as well as eight great grandchildren; Stormy and Shane Wade, Briana, Cote`, Tyler and Alexa Pudlo and Aidan and Ella Smith. He also leaves his former son-in-law, John H. Goddard of Agawam, MA and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by three brothers; Harry, Bernard and Leo Trombley and by two sisters; Bertha Feetham and Eva Zahn-Drake.

FUNREAL NOTICE: A Celebration of Life and graveside service for George T. Trombley, 88, of Washington who died February 12, 2010 will be held in the spring at a time to be announced. Burial will be in Maple St. Cemetery in the spring. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations in memory of Mr. Trombley may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires, Becket Volunteer Ambulance or to the Hinsdale Volunteer Ambulance all in care of the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main St. Dalton, MA 01226 which is in charge of arrangements.
