Obituary for Gail M. Sherman

Gail Marie Sherman, 67, of 36 Folsom Street, North Adams, died peacefully on Friday January 13, 2017 at Williamstown Commons surrounded by her loving family. Born in Pittsfield on July 24, 1949, the daughter of the late George F. and Gladys C. Hall Lawrence, she was educated in local schools and was a 1966 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Gail was employed at the former Berkshire Life Insurance Company, Conte Middle School, G.E. and more recently as a personal care attendant. Also for a short time, upon her husband's passing in 2004, she took over and ran the business he previously owned, Indoff, which was an office supply store.
Gail enjoyed spending time with her family, bird watching, crafts and making shadow boxes, the ocean and walking. She had a very adventurous spirit and even enjoyed parasailing.
She is survived by her three sons, Stephen Sherman, Jr., of Adams, Louis Sibbio III of North Adams, and Paul M. Sherman with whom she resided, and her former daughter-in-law, Leah, of North Adams; a daughter Gloria Cater of Arizona; her three grand-children, Brittany Sibbio of Adams, and Jacob and Ryan Sherman of North Adams; her sisters, Judi A. Leavstrom and her husband Russ of Monkton, VT, and Georgia L. Hutchinson and her husband Glenn of Catskill, NY; many nieces and nephews and her longtime friend Jane St. John of Dalton.
She was predeceased by her brother, Harold J. Lawrence.

Funeral Services – Funeral Services for Gail M. Sherman who passed away on January 13, 2017 will be THURSDAY JANUARY 19, 2017 at 6 p.m. at the DERY CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, 121 North State Road, with Rev. William D. Furey officiating. Calling hours will precede the service from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be in the spring in Cheshire Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Gail's memory can be made to Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
