Obituary for Gabrielle L. Bevan

Gabrielle Louise Bevan, 97, of 600 Main St., Dalton died peacefully on Sunday February 12, 2017 at Craneville Place of Dalton. Born in Moose Creek, Ontario, Canada on April 11, 1919, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Farrell Rozon; her family came to the United States in 1923, and settled in Cheshire. She was educated in Cheshire and Adams schools and was a 1937 graduate of Adams High School.
Primarily a homemaker, at one time Gabrielle worked as a sales clerk at the former Elaine Specialty Shop in Adams and also the Waverly Printing Company as an Assembler. In her earlier years while her husband, Robert was in the Military, she worked In the Cheshire Post Office. Additionally, she worked for the Town of Cheshire; as a census taker, worked the polls for elections, and sat on the board of registrars for several years.
Gabrielle was a member of the Dalton Senior Citizens and a communicant of both St. Agnes and St. Mary of the Assumption Churches. She also sang in the St. Mary's Choir from the time she was a teenager until she moved to Dalton.
She also enjoyed bowling, square dancing, golfing, puzzles and playing cards.
She is survived by her daughter; Melissa LaFrance and her husband James of Dalton, MA., her two sons; Jeffrey Bevan of Dalton, and Timothy Bevan and his wife Deborah of Hinsdale, MA., her six granddaughters; Lindsay LaFrance; Alecia Frutchey and her husband Michael and their daughter Kathryn; Andrea Bertelli and her son Luciano; Amie Bruton and her husband Robert and their son Aloysius; Kelly Mcllquham and her husband Mark and their children Max, McKenna and Shea, Tiffany Houle and her husband Matt and their children Kylee and Luke.
She was pre-deceased by her husband; Robert F. Bevan, who died May 11, 1974, a daughter; Kathryn Bevan, who died June 3, 1996, four brothers, Andrew, Arthur, Orrel, and Thomas, and by five sisters, Elaine Rozon, Virginia O'Donnell, Theresa Messenger, Bibiane Bennett and Anita Nelson.
The family would like to thank HospiceCare in the Berkshires and the Staff at Craneville Place for their wonderful and compassionate care of Gabrielle during her illness.

Funeral Services - Funeral services for Gabrielle Louise Bevan, 97, of Cheshire, who passed away on February 12, 2017 will be held Monday, February 20, 2017 at 11a.m. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire celebrated by the Rev. Matthew Guidi, pastor. Burial will take place in the spring in Cheshire Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service beginning at 10a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Gabrielle may be made to HospiceCare in The Berkshires or to the Cheshire Fire Department both in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 BRADFORD ST., PITTSFIELD, MA 01201.
