Obituary for Gabriella H. Baumann

GABRIELLA HEYRMAN BAUMANN, 87, formerly of 21 Chestnut Street,
Dalton, and a Dalton resident for over 50 years, died Sunday, January 18, at Brighton
Gardens in Florham Park, New Jersey, where she had resided since September 2004.
Born in Antwerp, Belgium, February 5, 1921, a daughter of Joseph and Margareta
DeCock Heyrman, she was a graduate of Belgium schools.
While in Dalton, Mrs. Baumann was an assistant Kindergarten teacher at the
Junior School Kindergarten, cooked and served lunches at the former Quinn's Place in
Dalton, and was also a caregiver in private homes during the 1960s and later in life, prior
to retirement.
Mrs. Baumann was a communicant of Holy Family Church in Florham Park.
During her years in Dalton, she was a communicant of St. Agnes Church and a member
of its Rosary Society.
She enjoyed cooking, various crafts, knitting, crocheting, and music. She
continued her love of music at Brighton Gardens, participating in the sing-alongs and
associated activities.
Her husband, Francis "Tige" E. Baumann, whom she met during World War II
while he was stationed in Belgium, died October 13, 1995. They celebrated their 50th
anniversary on August 25, 1995.
Mrs. Baumann leaves two daughters, Helen B. Caulfield and her husband,
Michael, of Madison, New Jersey; Linda M Moccio and her husband, Philip, of Valley
Cottage, New York a sister, Jeanne Heyrman Delvaux of Deurne, Belgium; her friend
and sister-in-law, Jo Daly of Dalton; five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and
many nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for GABRIELLA HEYRMAN BAUMANN, who died Sunday,
January 18, will be Thursday, January 22, at 11:15 a.m., from DERY-FOLEY
FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon at St. Agnes
Church celebrated by Rev. Jeffrey Minkler, Pastor of St. Cecelia Church in Wilbraham.
Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 4:00 to
7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs.
Baumann may be made to Alzheimer's Association or to Care Alternatives "Hospice for
the Life We Live", both in care of DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main
Street, Dalton.
