Obituary for G. Peter Whitney

G. Peter Whitney (64) of 29 Brickhouse Mountain Road, died suddenly at Baystate Medical Center on Friday, February 20, 2015.
Born in Pittsfield on October 3, 1950, he was the son of Gilman Goodrich and Katherine Morrison Whitney. He was a 1968 graduate of St. Joseph High School, a 1970 graduate of Berkshire Community College and a 1973 graduate of University of Denver, and was also in the fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon.
He owned and operated F.S. Whitney and Son Produce Co., Inc., for 40+ years until 2009. Most recently, he worked for BJ'S Wholesale Club.
He was an avid skier, enjoyed spending time with his family, and gardening.
He leaves his beloved wife Lynn Kristensen Whitney whom he married June 13,
1981. He also leaves three sons: Blair P. Whitney and his girlfriend Amy Chavarry of
Pittsfield, Christian G. Whitney and his wife Tamara of Pittsfield, and Devin S. Whitney and his
girlfriend Amanda Morse of Pittsfield; a sister, Susan Whitney of Nashua, N.H., and her
daughter Katherine, and his grandson, Skylar Whitney of Pittsfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE:
Funeral services for G. Peter Whitney (64) who died Friday, February 20, 2015 will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 9:00 a.m., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church celebrated by Msgr. Michael A. Shershanovich, Pastor. Burial will be held at a later date.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, February 25, at DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield from
4:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made out to Lynn Whitney
for the grandchildren's education fund in care of the DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
